About TADA Productions, Inc.
Originally founded by Robert and Cris Rook, TADA (The Arts Deserve Attention) Productions, Inc. began 20 years ago working with the creators on the Midwest premiere of the Broadway musical Jekyll and Hyde at the Rococo Theatre that played to over 800 patrons a performance.
As an independent theatre alternative, TADA began to grow its patron base through collaborative productions such as Sweeney Todd with the Nebraska Symphony Chamber Orchestra, Big River and South Pacific with the Lincoln Choral Artists, Beauty and the Beast with Lincoln Parks and Recreation, Quilters with the International Quilt Study Center, several productions with The Lincoln Symphony Orchestra and the critically acclaimed touring production of Side by Side by Sondheim.
The professional quality of Jekyll and Hyde was recognized by other Broadway creators that teamed with TADA on producing a wide array of award-winning productions and regional premieres. It was the first independent theatrical company to perform the New York blockbuster Forbidden Broadway and also produced the regional premieres of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Happy Days A New Musical, The Spidey Project and Gilligan's Island the musical. TADA also received direct permission to perform songs from such theatre composers and lyricists as Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Schwartz.
TADA built its own theatre in 2008 in Lincoln’s Historic Haymarket District and changed from a sole proprietorship to a nonprofit company overseen by a board of directors. Shortly afterwards, The TADA Theatre received an Impact Award for downtown development from the Downtown Lincoln Association. Earlier TADA had also been recognized with a Mayor’s Arts Award from the City of Lincoln, and a Proclamation for Theatre Excellence from the State of Nebraska.
For 20 years, TADA Productions, Inc. has offered quality, affordable theatre to our community. With an intimate house, TADA is the "little" theatre that does "big" things. Featuring a core group of theatrical artists, a dedicated production team, an ever-growing patron base and an esteemed Board of Directors, TADA Productions, Inc has involved hundreds of actors, students, designers and regional artists working towards the same goal and impacting our community with the positive power of theatre.
