FOR THE AUDITION: Sing a song no longer than 2 minutes in length. Nothing from the show itself but a song you strongly believe in and showcases you well.
PRODUCTION DATES: August 11-28 (Thursday-Saturday 7:30 pm / Sunday 2:00 pm)
ABOUT THE SHOW: Sondheim’s Tony Award-winning musical comedy is a story of shenanigans, hijinks, and tomfoolery as a lowly servant endeavors to scheme his way to freedom in this antic romp through Rome with desperate lovers, scheming neighbors, and scandalous secrets behind every toga. The plot twists and turns with cases of mistaken identity, slamming doors and a showgirl or two. This big Roman musical will have you dancing in the aisles with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville!
REHEARSALS: Music rehearsals will begin on June 29. The process will carry throughout May leading up to the June opening. Rehearsals generally take place from 6:30 pm-10:00 pm Monday-Friday and some Sundays. TADA is extremely organized and will get the cast a calendar ahead of time so that actors know which dates and times they are called for at rehearsal. Your time is valuable to us! If you have conflicts during the rehearsal period, please list them on your email to casting. We can work around several however the closer to opening the more essential attendance will be. The fewer conflicts overall increases your chances of being cast.
Pseudolus: A Roman slave, owned by Hero. Quick-witted and scheming.
Male, age 30 to 50. Vocal range: A2-A4.
Senex: An old man and father to Hero and hen-pecked husband to Domina.
Male, age 45-60. Vocal range: B2-G4.
Domina: Senex’s wife. A shrewish woman: controlling, demanding, and manipulative.
Female, age 40 -60. Vocal range: B3-F5.
Hero: The young son of Senex and Domina. Practical, privileged, romantic.
Male, age 20-30. Vocal range: B2-G4.
Hysterium: The chief slave in the House of Senex. Anxious and loyal; the order he so desperately wants for everything eludes him.
Male, age 40 to 55. Vocal range: D4-G5.
Erronius: An old man, searching for his lost children.
Male, age 45-70. Vocal range: B2-G4.
Miles Gloriosus: A captain in the Roman army. Commanding, boastful, manly and strong.
Male, age 25-35. Vocal range: B3-F5.
Lycus: The buyer and seller of the flesh of beautiful women.
Male, age 40 to 50. Vocal range: A3-F5.
Philia: One of Lycus courtesans, still a virgin. Young, pretty, devoted ingenue.
Female, age 18 to 25. Vocal range: B3-G5
Courtesans: Female ensemble from the house of Lycus.

About The Guest Director
Mr. Kathman is currently an assistant professor of Acting/Directing at Nebraska Wesleyan University and an actor, director, educator, playwright, fight choreographer and dialect coach who has worked in multiple states around the Midwest and Midsouth. Information about his one-man version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, titled One-Ham Manlet can be found here: onehammanlet.com. Besides directing at NWU, other favorite projects include adapting and directing eight different Shakespeare plays for various companies; producing/directing works for the Minnesota Fringe Festival, including an original Canterbury Tales adaptation called Toward Canterbury and a solo show called Blue Collar Diaries; performing on stages like the Nebraska Repertory Theatre (Humble Boy), Minnesota’s Jungle Theater (The Rivals), Playwright’s Center (The Sea Wolf), and Illusion Theater (Kung Fu Hamlet), as well as Memphis’ Playhouse on the Square (Spamalot) and Theatre Memphis (Doubt), in addition to roles in short and feature-length films and various commercials. Member of Actors Equity Association and an Advanced Actor/Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors.
